The Canton of the Fribourg

Le Chateau de Romont, due to surrounding mountains is one of the most beautiful castles of Switzerland. It was built in the 12th century and belonged to Bilan family, and presented in 1239 to Peter of Savoy. In the 15th century it was owned by Savoyards, and in the 16th century, at last, made a part of Fribourg. At the same time it was being restored and by 1588 became Savoyards’ fixed place.

Now it lodges a museum of stained-glass windows.

On April,10 one can make witness of annual ancient Easter ceremony called Pleureuses, which means “Weepers”.
