Resorts of Vaud Alps

Foremost among the resorts of Vaud Alps is Leysin, at 1250 metres, which offers a whole range of sports attractions.

The popular tourist-center of Les Diablerets, at 1157 metres, is connected by a gondola lift with the glacier of the same name at 3000 metres, on which it is possible to ski all year long.

Villars, at an altitude of 1253 metres, is one of the best-known touristic centres of the region. The area also includes the localities of Chesieres and Gryon. In addition to winter sports, Villars offers its summertime visitors a wide variety of Alpine excursions.

St.-Maurice
The abbey-church of St.-Maurice, founded in the year 515 by Sigismund of Burgundy, preserves a rich treasury within its walls. This church is one of the most ancient centres of Christianity.

The starkly impressive Dent-du-Midi (“Teeth of the southland”) massif towers over the alpine site of Champery, at 1050 metres. Winter sports enthusiasts find it a real paradise.

Crossing the pass known as the Col de la Forclaz in a majestic alpine landscape, the road to Chamonix arrives at Chatelard, a resort on the French-Swiss border.

Verbier is a holiday resort that has developed in the past few years into a full tourist centre at 1500 metres, in the Val de Bagnes. It offers ideal conditions for the enjoyment of many sorts of athletic activities.
